This is a very detailed insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Caddisfly (Trichoptera) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. Caddisflies are some of the largest flies found in amber. This specimen is large and has great detail. The legs and antennae are easily seen, and the large wings are beautifully preserved. There is also another fly trapped in the large amber piece. This is an excellent example of a fossilized Caddisfly (close-up photo is included for free).
