Name:
Centipede
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Russia
Size: Amber is 1.1" long, centipede is about 0.65"
This is one of the best amber fossils we have ever had. It is a huge Centipede from Russia. This specimen is complete - the head, antennae, and legs are all intact and well preserved. Although they run off the edge of the photo, the long tail barbs are actually fully complete (rare!). The entire centipede is fully encased in the amber, and it is easily seen trapped within the nugget. This is a very rare inclusion in Baltic Amber, and the fact that it is so complete makes it a true museum piece (close-up photo is included for free).
