Name:
Grasshopper in Baltic Amber
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Russia
Size: Amber Piece is 1.1 inches long
This is a VERY RARE insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Grasshopper from Russia. Grasshoppers are rare in amber because they usually "hopped" out of trouble. This specimen has great detail, especially on the antennae and legs. The segmentation of the body can even be seen. The grasshopper can be seen through both sides of the amber - photos of both views are shown. Also, there is at least one other insect trapped in the amber piece. This is a very collectible Baltic Amber specimen (both close-up photos are included for free).
