Rare Wood Aphid in Baltic Amber
Stock Number  ACIAP01

Name:   Wood Aphid (Homoptera)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 1.35 inches

This is a rare insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Wood Aphid (Homoptera) from Russia. Wood Aphids are very uncommon - very few have been found. They didn't seem to get caught in the amber as easily as some other insects. They are also very small, so they are hard to find in the amber pieces. This one has nice detail. It was fould in a large piece of amber. This is a rare and unusual insect trapped in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included).
