This is an excellent insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Caddisfly (Trichoptera) from Russia. Caddisflies are uncommon in Baltic Amber. They are large insects and can usually escape from being trapped in the sticky sap. This one is preserved in the classic side view and has great detail. The wings, legs, and antennae are all beautifully displayed. The fly is easily seen centered in the large amber piece. This is a top quality insect entombed in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included for free).
