Location: Myanmar (Burma)

Here is a fine Spider (Araneae) preserved in Burmese Amber from Myanmar. Amber from this area is Cretaceous in age, meaning it is from the time of the dinosaurs! This nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished for optimal display. The large spider is well preserved and exhibits very nice detail. The spider can be seen trapped within the honey-colored amber nugget. This is a very good example of a spider trapped in fossilized tree resin (Large close-up photo is included for free).
