Nice Swarm of Large Fungus Gnats in Amber
Stock Number  ACBSW702
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fungus Gnats (Mycetophilidae)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia
Size:  Amber piece is almost 1.4 inches long

This is an excellent pair of fossil insects from the Baltic Coast of Russia. There are at least two large Fungus Gnats (Mycetophilidae) entombed in the amber piece. The gnats all have good detail - their minute features are very easily seen. The bugs are very well showcased and quite obvious in the large amber piece. This is a great swarm of fossil insects trapped in Baltic Amber (LARGE close-up photo is included for free).
