Here is an excellent Spider (Araneae) preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This HUGE mass of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The spider is beautifully preserved and exhibits wonderful detail - the head, body, and long, hairy legs of the spider are clearly defined. And, remember, the amber piece is well over one and a half inches long! This is a beautiful example of a killer spider trapped in a monster piece of fossilized tree resin.
