EXTINCTIONS CHOICE- Fabulous Flower Microcosm
Stock Number  ACDX818
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Flower, Others in Amber
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is 1 inch long

This is a very rare grouping of inclusions in amber. The main one is a fossil Acacia Flower trapped in Dominican Amber. Plants, especially flowers, are rare occurrences in amber - they had to fall in or be blown into the resin, whereas insects could crawl or fly into the sap. This fantastic specimen has exquisite detail. The tangle of individual stamens are quite distinct, and the ornamented petals are very well preserved. The large flower is easily seen trapped within the large, polished piece of fossilized tree resin. And believe it or not, there are also three Gall Midges, three leaves, another Acacia flower, a Winged Termite, a Spider, and a Worker Ant ALL trapped along side the textbook Acacia Flower. This is a very collectible flower microcosm preserved in Domincan Amber (TWO small close-up photos included for free).
