Here is a rare insect preserved in Baltic Amber. This is a Leafhopper Nymph (Auchenorrhyncha) from Russia. This type of insect is a very uncommon find in Baltic Amber. This specimen is complete and has great detail. The body, legs, and antennae are quite evident. And look at those eyes! The individual lenses of the large, compound eyes are clearly defined. The insect is nicely centered in the polished piece of fossil tree resin. This is a very unusual fossil insect from the Eocene Amber Deposits of Russia (close-up photo is included for free).
