Nice Dark-Winged Fungus Gnat with Large Eyes

Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 0.7 inches long

This is a fine specimen of a Dark Winged Fungus Gnat (Sciaridae) entrapped in Baltic Amber. The insect displays the head, body, legs, and wings quite nicely. The large compound eyes are easily seen. The venation of the wings is prominent, and the long legs are beautifully showcased. This is a very nice specimen of a Fungus Gnat preserved in Dominican Amber.
