Spider (Araneae)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Baltic Coast, Russia
Size: Amber piece is 0.9 inches long
This is a cool amber fossil. It is a very large spider (Araneae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. This specimen has great detail - the LONG legs are intact and display beautifully. The many body parts of the spider are easily seen - especially the many creepy eyes! The ugly arachnid is well displayed in the amber piece. And it even looks as if the spider was preserved in the ''attack'' pose! This is a very distinct spider trapped in Baltic Amber.
