This is a large swarm of flies trapped in amber. It is a grouping of True Midges (Chironomidae) in Baltic Amber. There are at least four midges displayed in this piece. The flies have very good detail preserved and are well spaced out within the amber. It is unusual to have so many insects preserved in one piece of Baltic Amber, more so than Dominican Amber. This is a collectible swarm of flies from the Baltic Coast of Russia.
