Name:   Caddisfly (Trichoptera)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia

This is an excellent example of an unusual insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Caddisfly (Trichoptera) from Russia. The Caddisfly is also photographed ventrally, showing the detail of the underside beautifully. The Caddisfly is excellent, displaying the venation of the wings, the legs, and long antennae extremely well. This specimen is trapped in a cognac-colored amber piece, and it is easily seen within the piece. This is a fine example of a Caddisfly entombed in ''fossil ooze''.
