Here is a fine Spider (Araneae) preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The spider is well preserved and exhibits very nice detail. The spider is easily seen trapped within the large amber nugget. The spider even pulled off a few of its long legs trying to escape the deadly clutches of the amber tomb! This is a very good example of a spider trapped in fossilized tree resin.
