EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Aphid (Homoptera)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 1 inch long

This is an unusual insect in Baltic Amber. It is a strange Aphid (Homoptera) from Russia. Aphids are unusual in amber - they didn't seem to get caught in the amber as easily as some other insects. They are also very small, so they are hard to find in the amber pieces. This one has nice detail preserved. This is an unusual insect trapped in Baltic Amber.
