Fabulous Long-Legged Fly Trapped in Baltic Amber
Stock Number  Z508093
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Long-Legged Fly (Dolichopodidae)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 0.55 inches long

This is an excellent Long-Legged Fly (Dolichopodidae) entombed in Baltic Amber. The large piece of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides to reveal the fine detail of the insect inclusion. The head, body, long legs, and wings of the beast are clearly defined. The insect is easily seen trapped within the golden piece of fossil ''ooze''. This is a very distinct example of a Long-Legged Fly preserved in amber.
