EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Moth (or Butterfly?)
Stock Number  ACBMO901
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Moth (Lepidoptera)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Poland
Size:  Amber piece is 0.7 inches long

This is a very unusual insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Moth (Lepidoptera) from Russia. This specimen could be a Butterfly - it has segmented antennae! The insect has nice detail - the large, spread wings are beautifully preserved. The moth is easily seen trapped within the large amber piece. This is a fine example of a fossil Moth (Butterfly?) entombed in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
