Here is an excellent Spider (Araneae) preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This large nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The spider is beautifully preserved and exhibits wonderful detail - the head, body, and long legs of the spider are clearly defined. This is a very fine example of a spider trapped in fossilized tree resin (large close-up photo included for free).
