This is a very distinct insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Caddisfly (Trichoptera) from Russia. Caddisflies are uncommon in Baltic Amber. They are large insects and can usually escape from being trapped in the sticky sap. This one has great detail preserved - the large wings display the fine venation beautifully. The Caddisfly is easily seen in the large amber piece. This is a fabulous insect entombed in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included).
