Name:
Two Spiders (Araneae)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Russia
Size: Amber nugget is 1.1 inches long
This is an unusual Baltic Amber fossil. It is a pair of Spiders (Araneae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. Spiders are generally solitary animals, so finding two in one amber piece is unusual. The spiders have good detail preserved and are entombed in an amber nugget that is over an inch long. This is a very good example of a pair of spiders trapped in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
