This is a great example of a very unusual insect in amber. It is a complete Planthopper (Winged Aphid; Homoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen is preserved with the wings in flying position, making for a very nice display. The wing detail is incredible - the original color pattern is even preserved! And look at the legs and antennae - amazing! This is a textbook fossil insect with colorful wings showcased in all their glory (small close-up photo is included for free).
