Here is a very distinct Spider (Araneae) preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The spider is beautifully preserved and exhibits wonderful detail - the head, body, and long legs of the spider are clearly defined. The Arachnid is easily seen trapped within the large amber piece. This is a very fine example of a spider trapped in fossilized tree resin (large close-up photo included for free).
