Location: Baltic States / Russia
Size: Amber piece is 0.85 inches long
Here is a fine Spider (Araneae) preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The spider is well preserved and exhibits nice detail. The spider is easily seen trapped within the very large amber nugget, along with a very nice fossil fly. This is a very good example of a spider and fly trapped in fossilized tree resin (large close-up photo included for free).
