This is an excellent example of an unusual insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Caddisfly (Trichoptera) from Russia. The Caddisfly is photographed ventrally, showing the detail of the underside beautifully. The Caddisfly is excellent, displaying the venation of the wings, the legs, and long antennae extremely well. This specimen is trapped in a large amber piece, and it is easily seen within the piece. There are also numerous other insects trapped along with the Caddisfly. This is a great example of a Caddisfly entombed in ''fossil ooze'' (large close-up photo is included for free).
