Here is a very nice insect in Baltic Amber. It is a True Midge (Chironomidae) from the Eocene of Russia. This True Midge exhibits wonderful detail. The head, body, long legs, and wings are beautifully preserved. Even the segmented antennae on the beast are quite evident. The insect is well posed and easily seen in the polished piece of fossilized tree resin. The bug is almost perfectly centered in the piece of fossil ''ooze''. This is a very detailed Midge trapped in amber (large close-up photo included for free).
