This is an extremely unusual insect. It is a large Gnat Bug (Enicocephalidae) from the Amber Mines of the Dominican Republic. This specimen is simply fabulous - the detail is incredible (see close-up photo). The Gnat Bug is beautifully showcased in the large, honey-colored amber piece. This is an incredibly detailed example of this very bizarre insect (small close-up photo is included for free).
