EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Fabulous Acacia Flower
Stock Number  ACDFLX1
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Acacia Flower
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is 0.8 inches long

This is a very rare inclusion in amber. It is a fossil Acacia Flower trapped in Dominican Amber. Plants, especially flowers, are rare occurrences in amber - they had to fall in or be blown into the resin, whereas insects could crawl or fly into the sap. This fantastic specimen has exquisite detail. The tangle of individual stamens are quite distinct, and the ornamented petals are very well preserved. The large flower is easily seen trapped within the large, polished piece of fossilized tree resin. This is a fabulous example of an extremely scarce flower preserved in Domincan Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
