Here is an excellent Spider (Araneae) preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This large nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The spider is beautifully preserved and exhibits wonderful detail - the head, body, and long, hairy legs of the spider are clearly defined - even the many eyes are showcased! The spider is easily seen trapped at the top of the honey-colored amber piece. This is a very fine example of a scary Spider preserved in fossilized tree resin (large close-up photo is included for free).
