This is a very unusual and beautiful insect in amber. It is a complete Planthopper (Winged Aphid; Homoptera) trapped in Baltic Amber. This specimen is preserved with the gossamer wings spread open, making for a very nice display. The wing detail is amazing - the original color pattern is even preserved! The bug is well centered in the larger amber nugget. This is a striking fossil insect with colorful wings showcased in all their glory (two small close-up photos are included for free).
