Name:
Spider, Ant, and Biting Midge
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Baltic Coast, Russia
Size: Amber piece is 0.5 inches long
This is a very unusual swarm of fossil insects from Russia. There is a large Harvestman Spider, an Ant, and a Biting Midge entombed in the amber piece. They all have very good detail preserved - their features are easily seen. The bugs are nicely spaced and quite obvious in the large amber piece. This is a great swarm of unusual fossil insects and arachnid trapped in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
