This is an excellent insect in Baltic Amber. It is a beautiful Long-Legged Fly (Dolichopodidae) from Russia. This specimen has GREAT detail - you can even see the hairs on its back, and the facets on the HUGE compound eyes! The head is actually quite grotesque! The fly is easily seen entombed within the colorful amber nugget. This is a very displayable insect trapped in fossil ooze (large close-up photo is included free).
