This is a nice fossil fly trapped in Baltic Amber. It is a very fine Sand Fly (Psychodidae) from Russia. This specimen has great detail, displaying the wings, legs, and antennae very well. The fly is nicely positioned in the honey-colored amber piece. This is an excellent example of a Sand Fly with beautiful wings (large close-up photo is included for free).
