Name:
Pseudoscorpion and Prey
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.75 inches long
This is a VERY RARE occurrence in the fossil record. It is a large Pseudoscorpion with prey caught in its claw! This predation captured in amber is extremely uncommon. The Pseudoscorpion has great detail, as seen in the close-up photos. The segmented legs are present, and the large claws display beautifully. There is also a Biting Sandfly, Mite, Bark Louse, Sandfly, Worker Ant, and Larva ALL also trapped in this large amber piece. But the fact that the Pseudoscorpion has its last potential meal still trapped in its claw is just amazing. This is one of the most collectible amber pieces we have ever had (FIVE small close-up photos are included for free!)
