Rare Fossil Moth In Dominican Amber

Size:  Piece of amber is 0.4 inches long

This is a very rare insect in amber. It is a large Moth (Lepidoptera) from the Oligocene of the Dominican Republic. The insect exhibits great detail and is wonderfully preserved. The head, body, legs, and wings of the insect are beautifully displayed. The distinct Moth is easily seen trapped within the cognac-colored amber piece. This is a very nice example of a fossil Moth in a piece of Dominican Amber.
