Here is a great piece of Baltic Amber from the Eocene deposits of Russia. There are four Fungus Gnats (Mycetophilidae) entrapped in the fossilized tree resin. The large nugget of amber has been highly polished on all sides, and the exquisite detail of the insects is beautifully displayed. Just look at the pictures! The insects are very easily seen in the light-yellow piece of fossil ''ooze''. This is an exciting specimen of Baltic Amber with a swarm of Fungus Gnats wonderfully preserved.
