This is an excellent insect in amber. It is a large Bark Beetle (Coleoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen is complete and has great detail. The legs are extended making for a nice display. The beetle is easily seen in the honey-colored amber piece that also contains other insects. This is a wonderful example of a fossilized Bark Beetle trapped in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
