Here is a beautiful insect in Baltic Amber. This is a Fungus Gnat from the Eocene of Russia. This insect is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The head, body, legs, and wings of the insect are clearly defined. Even the antennae are quite evident. The long legs are outstretched and beautifully displayed. The venation of the wings is superb. The insect is easily seen in the polished piece of honey-colored fossil resin. This is a very detailed Fungus Gnat in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
