Name:
Fossil Plant (Bryophyte)
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.8 inches long
Here is an exciting botanical trapped in Dominican Amber. This piece of Oligocene amber contains a very striking fossil plant (Bryophyte). The piece of amber has been highly polished on all sides to reveal the fine detail of the inclusion. The ''feathery-looking'' Bryophyte, a somewhat primitive plant, exhibits the tiny leaflets in beautiful fashion. The unusual plant is easily seen in the honey-colored piece of fossil sap. This is a great specimen of a rare plant preserved in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
