Stock Number  ACDS97

Name:   Moth, Fungus Gnat, and Diapriid Midges
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is 0.8 inches long

Here is a unique piece of amber from the Oligocene amber mines of the Dominican Republic. This nugget of fossilized tree resin contains a very nice Moth, a large Fungus Gnat, and some unusual Diapriid Midges. The piece of amber has been highly polished on all sides to reveal the fine detail of the insect inclusions. The insects are easily seen in the honey-colored piece of fossil ''ooze''. This is a nice chunk of amber with multiple insects preserved (two small close-up photos included for free).
