This is a very detailed insect in amber. It is a beautiful True Midge (Chironomidae) from Russia. This specimen has remarkable detail - the wings, legs, body, and antennae all well-displayed. The fly is trapped inthe classic ''flying'' pose, and is easily seen in the honey-colored amber piece. This is a fabulous fossil True Midge entombed in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
