This is a very nice amber piece with many insects preserved. It is a swarm of True Midges (Chironomidae) from the Dominican Republic. There are at least six midges trapped in the amber piece. One midge in particular has excellent detail and displays beautifully. This is a very distinc swarm of flies preserved in ''fossil ooze'' (close-up photo of the single midge included for free).
