Name:
Caddisfly (Trichoptera)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Baltic Coast, Russia
Size: Amber piece is 1.6 inches long!
This is an excellent insect in Baltic Amber. It is a large Caddisfly (Trichoptera) from Russia. This specimen is trapped in a large amber piece, and it is easily seen within the piece. The detail of the Caddisfly is excellent, showing the venation of the wings and long antennae very well. There are also numerous other insects trapped along side the Caddisfly. This is a great example of a Caddisfly preserved in ''fossil ooze'' (large close-up photo is included for free.)
