Very Unusual Grouping of Five Spiders
Stock Number  ACS29
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Five Spiders (Araneae)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Baltic Coast, Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 1.1 inches long

This is a very unusual assemblage of arachnids in Baltic Amber. There are at least five individual spiders preserved in the amber nugget. Spiders are usually solitary animals - to have five trapped in the same amber piece is extremely rare. The spiders have nice detail and most are easily seen in the large amber piece (some are not pictured). There also seems to be at least two different types of spiders represented. This is a unique amber specimen with many spiders entombed together (large close-up photo is included for free).
