This is a very rare insect in amber. It is a large Scale Insect preserved in Baltic Amber. This type is easily distinguished by the scale-like venation pattern of the wings. This specimen has excellent overall detail - the legs and antennae are intact, and the large, gossamer wings display beautifully. The insect is easily seen in the honey-colored piece of amber. This is a fabulous example of a rare Scale Insect trapped in amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
