Name:
Textbook Springtail
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Baltic Coast, Russia
Size: Amber piece is 0.9 inches long
This is an excellent example of a rare insect. It is a large Springtail trapped in Baltic Amber. This specimen is fabulous- just look at the detail! The photo speaks for itself. Even the definitive ''springtail'' is wonderfully intact. This specimen is about as pristine as an insect in amber can get. It is a beautiful example of an unusual insect preserved in ''fossil ooze'' (large close-up photo is included for free).
