Stock Number  ACDMF02
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Moth Fly (Psychodidae)
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Piece of amber is 0.7 inches long

This is a detailed insect in Dominican Amber. It is a Moth Fly (Psychodidae) from the Oligocene deposits of the Dominican Republic. This specimen has very nice detail, displaying the body, wings, legs, and antennae beautifully. The Moth Fly is nicely positioned and easily seen in the light-colored amber piece that also contains a partially decomposed Fly. This is a fine example of a Moth Fly trapped in "fossil ooze" (small close-up photos included for free).
