Here is a highly uncommon Caddisfly (Trichoptera) entombed in Dominican Amber. Caddisflies are relatively large insects and can usually escape being trapped in the sticky sap. These insects are quite rare from the Dominican Republic - they are much more common in Baltic Amber. This Caddisfly is well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail - the barbed legs are beautifully preserved. The Caddisfly is easily seen in the cognac-colored piece of fossil ''ooze''. The amber piece also contains many bubbles, some of which are enhydros (RARE water-filled bubbles, not air). This is a very collectible example of a textbook Caddisfly and a rare water bubble in the same piece of amber (small close-up photo of Caddisfly is included for free).
