Size: Amber piece is 1.6 inches long
This is a very unusual insect in amber. It is a Spiny Millipede (Polyxenus) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. This specimen has a myriad of long bristles covering the entire body. The millipede has good detail, and the segmentation is easily seen. The millipede is hard to see in the amber in the photo, but it is readily seen in person. This is one of the most collectible insects found in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included for free).
