This is an excellent Cranefly fossil. It is nice piece of Baltic Amber with a nearly perfect Cranefly (Tipulidae) preserved! This specimen is textbook - the detail is amazing. Note that all six LONG legs are preserved and beautifully positioned in the amber - a fabulous display pose. The head, body, and wings are also very detailed. And the HUGE compound eyes display hundreds of intact facets! All these features combine to make this a unique museum quality amber fossil. It is one of the best insects in amber we have ever had (two small close-up photos are included for free).
